Confessions of a Shopaholic

Hello, Shop2Chic readers!  Last week we announced the introduction of our Book Spotlight and now our first review is finally here!  With summer coming to a close, reading may be the last thing on your mind.  However, with our help, we hope to provide you with suggestions that will supersede your traditional summer reading list. After much deliberation, we found the perfect book to start you off...

"Confessions of a Shopaholic" by Sophie Kinsella follows the quirky misadventures of Becky Bloomwood, a 25-year-old London socialite with a closet filled with the latest trends.  The only problem is: she can't afford any of it, and she has put herself in a debilitating financial crisis. Vowing to pay off every bill, Becky bares her soul in a letter to the editor of Allete, the mecca of fashion magazines, in order to acquire her dream job as a personal shopper.

Meanwhile, after being rebuffed at an interview with the unfortunate Luke Brandon at Successful Savings, an indignant Becky sends off another letter. But how many martinis were involved in the process? When Becky gets an enthusiastic call from Successful Savings with a job offer, she is mortified.  What can Becky, a compulsive spender receding deeper into debt everyday, possibly say about successful financial budgeting?

With bank manager Derek Smeath breathing down her neck, and her spend thrifty parents poking into her business, how long can Becky maintain the image of collected financial journalist? And even more importantly - what will happen if Denny & George hold another sample sale? Read to find out!
